Sterling silver Handmade “The Trinacria” style pendant. The pendant features one very identifiable symbol of Sicily. The winged head of Medusa, a mythological creature with snakes for hair, is surrounded by three bent legs and, occasionally, three ears of wheat. The three legs of the central figure represent a trinacria, or triangle, from the Greek name for Sicily, Trinacria, as well as the island’s three corners: Peloro (northeast), Passero (southeast), and Lilibeo (west). It is also found on the Sicilian flag and is a widespread good luck charm.
